Jayel: Start by looking at the submission guidelines for the magazines that cater to your market (first, know your market!). Those guidelines can usually be found in small type in the back of the magazine or on the magazine’s website. Also, there are great books called Writers Market and Artists Market that have detailed listings for what publishers are looking for. Most publications have requirements for how they like to be contacted and it’s best to follow their guidelines.
